BIOMETRIC SIGNATURE ID AND B VIRTUAL TO DEBUT NEW IDENTITY WITNESS AUTHENTICATION TO LINK REAL WORLD ID WITH BIOMETRICS

July 10, 2015 — Dallas, TX – Biometric Signature ID, a leading provider of software gesture biometrics, announced a new venture with partner B Virtual Inc., a global leader in online proctoring.  The companies will offer a new solution to authenticating identity online which allows a biometric identity established by new users to be matched to legal documents providing proof of identity.  This legal confirmation and real-time witnessing at the point of identity creation sets a new standard for authentication and provides a powerful weapon against fraud.

By combining Biometric Signature ID’s innovative gesture biometric with B Virtual’s live online credentialing professionals, Biometric Signature ID will provide a new level of trust that links legal identity with biometric identity for the first time in a consumer level product. Biometrics are distinct physiological characteristics unique to individuals such as fingerprints, DNA, irises, and faces.  A gesture biometric is an individual’s way of behaving, in Biometric Signature ID’s case how users draw their passcode using a mouse, finger or stylus.  Biometric Signature ID has been independently tested and found to be 99.97% accurate in keeping impostors out.

Rick Beaudry, CEO of B Virtual says, “We are thrilled to have been the chosen partner for Biometric Signature ID.   Having our live online professionals utilizing Biometric Signature ID’s technology 24 x 7 worldwide will ensure that the person who creates their biometric signature is being credentialed and then watched as a first step in the process. ”

The addition of B Virtual’s credentialing confirmation acts as a barrier to imposters attempting to game the system by creating a false identity using their own gestures to create a drawn passcode.  “Biometric Signature ID adds the necessary insurance that the person creating their passcode is really who they say they are,” says Jeff Maynard, CEO of Biometric Signature ID.  “Biometric Signature ID provides truly formidable security, but it is designed to authenticate the user who created the password.Biometric Signature ID is a way to prove beyond a doubt that the person who creates the identity is the same person legally.  That’s the radical step forward here.”

Biometric Signature ID is intended to assist healthcare and education institutions, and financial and corporate entities with an innovative process for authenticating and verifying online identities throughout their lifecycle; it provides institutions with unparalleled security confidence that goes beyond anything currently on the market. Biometric Signature ID employs multi-factor authentication, which the U.S. White House urged all online companies to adopt for cyber security in October 2014.

Writing An Online Exam Proctoring RFP

link icon

Written By Rick Beaudry, CEO of B Virtual Inc.

Need to write an online proctoring request for proposal (RFP)?

Having received a number of requests for proposal over the years, I can say that there are well-structured RFP’s and not-so-well-structured ones. Ones that require detailed description of methodology, others who just want basic information and price.

There are plenty of RFP templates available online which can guide you on structure. But with the increased sophistication of the buyer of online proctoring services, and the growing complexity of the diverse stakeholders consuming the service, I thought I would provide some of the great RFP questions that we have received. I have structured by group – process, quality assurance and implementation.

Process

1. Describe your process for scheduling examinations that is convenient for students.

2. Describe your process for scheduling exams that is convenient for the institution and faculty.

3. Describe your clear and actionable plan to intervene in an exam where the integrity of the exam has been compromised.

4. Describe your process of “flagging” questionable exams such that the event or concern can be reviewed later to determine if the exam was valid or not.

5. Describe your quality assurance processes to continually monitor and improve their service, systems, and processes.

6. Describe your training. How do you provide training for staff upon initiation of the contract? Ongoing training resources such as user documentation, how-to videos, and step by step instructions should also be readily available in formats that allow for easy dissemination on institution’s website, by e-mail, or by hard copy.

Quality Assurance Processes

1. Proposer shall describe its plan to intervene in an exam where the integrity of the exam has been compromised.

2. Proposer shall describe its process of “flagging” questionable exams such that the event or concern can be reviewed later to determine if the exam was valid or not.

3. Proposer shall describe its quality assurance processes to continually monitor and improve their service, systems, and processes.

4. Provide a description of the process utilized to verify the identity of an individual presenting to take an examination.

5. Describe methods to ensure the integrity of the exam, exam passwords, and the testing environment (both the student’s location and access to online materials during the exam.) These methods should include visual and auditory observation.

6. Provide a description of the procedures to be used if an event is observed which compromises or could compromise the integrity of the examination.

7. Describe the technology employed by the vendor to monitor the examination.

8. Describe how the vendor assures data security during the exam and that no future weakness is created on the student’s computer as a result of the proctoring process.

9. Describe the method to be used to provide the student with the D2L password, required to take the exam.

10. Describe the method of validating that exam proctoring has taken place.

Implementation

1. Proposer shall describe your process for providing training for staff and students upon initiation of the contract.

2. Proposer shall describe your process for utilizing ongoing training resources such as user documentation, how-to videos.

3. Proposer shall describe your process for developing step by step instructions that are readily available in formats that allow for easy dissemination on institution’s website, by e-mail, or by hard

4. Describe, in detail, your 24 x 7 technical support to faculty, administration and students.
